Posting Blogs

We strongly encourage members to post blogs. We believe that posting blogs are highly important because it gives people ideas for one to one outings with their buddies. Also, it is a way to reflect on what your friendship, or what the club really means to you while adding spirit to our club. Thank you Quynh Nguyen and Christopher Rivera (associate members) for posting blogs!

Good luck on finals! If you are in the Riverside area in December, please spend time with your buddy. If not, please call your buddy, mail a Christmas card, or contact them some other way. It's amazing how much of an impact a card can make in a person's life!

A friend is a gift you give yourself."~Robert Louis Stevenson

News from your Treasurer:

I just came home from attending a budget meeting earlier tonight, and I'm happy to report that Best Buddies officially has activated an account with ASUCR.

Now, all the profits from the See's Candy Fundraiser have some place safe to go as we forge ahead to meet our goal of raising $2000 before the end of the school year!

Good job to all the members who have participated! All of the officers are very pleased with everyone's dedication to our mission.

Ice Cream Social 11-19-05

Our Ice Cream Social was a success! With 42 people attending, we all had a great time eating lunch, chatting, making ice cream sundaes, and watching Spiderman II. It was also Alicia Montes' birthday (buddy), so we celebrated it with a surprise cookie cake! We want to thank Pari Haghighat for getting Alicia flowers and the cake and also Matthew Granum for letting us have our event at his place. There were Project Team alumnis there as well as many committed parents! Our delicious ice cream was also generously donated by Rite Aide at the Canyon Crest Town Center.

Sees Candy Success!

Good job to all the members who have sold so much candy and have worked so hard for Best Buddies! I think Johnny has done an especially great job by selling so many boxes of candy. I like being part of this club because it is so well organized. It is amazing how involved the officers are and how highly motivated all the members are. Especially the President Anna Nguyen who is very pretty and a fan of BEST BUDDIES!

Sincerely,

Studying With Hugo!

Yesterday, Hugo and I went to the mall to buy each other b-day gifts! Hugo got me some makeup and I bought him a Laker's Hat. We ate at Charley's subs, and then went to Barnes and Noble to study. Hugo and I plan to do many study sessions together, since we are very ambitious about our future! Hugo wants to become a CHP, and has many plans for the future. He told me that he is saving money to one day buy a Honda Accord. He also told me about his one goal that he wanted to accomplished by the end of this year. I learned many things that I did not know about Hugo last year by just going out with him. I got to listen to and talk to him about his goals and it really touched me to hear them. He is a very dedicated person who chases his dreams! Happy B-day Hugo (It's today)! On Wednesday, November 23, Hugo and I baked a birthday cake. It was a chocolate cake with frosting and decorations. We listened to Daddy Yankee while were making the cake!

Lunch at Project Team

Last Thursday I ate lunch with Stacey at Project Team, where I met her for the first time in about half a year! I found out she will be graduating this spring, as will I. Stacey's unsure about plans after graduation, but she's attending workshops to prepare for her decision. We're both excited about graduating soon. Go class of 2006!!

October Associate Member and Buddy Pair Winners!

College Buddy Pair Winner!

Kevin Izquierdo and Jason Albert! Since the beginning of the year, Kevin has been very active as a college buddy! Kevin has fulfilled the requirements of a college buddy, having had a one to one with his buddy Jason at the Spaghetti Factory as well as eating at a sit down Chinese restaurant and later listening to music in the car! How creative! Kevin is always one of the first people to return RSVPs to us. Kevin takes initiative and is dedicated to Best Buddies. Kevin attended our Ability Awareness Training and our recent November 9th chapter meeting. Jason has attended the Love Inc TV taping, the Halloween Party, and the Spaghetti Factory Matching Party! Go Kevin and Jason!

Associate Member Winner! We have a tie!

Janet Rodriguez!

Marisol Sanchez!

Janet and Marisol are equally dedicated to our club! They exemplify the type of associate members we seek, that is, those who take initiative to support our club! It shows! They both have attended our informational meeting, responded to our RSVPs, joined the Fundraising AND Activities committee, attended the Spaghetti Factory Matching Party, AND attended the Halloween Party! Just by listening to Janette and Marisol brainstorm ideas for fundraising at our November 9th meeting, one can tell how enthusiastic they are about this club! Go Janette and Marisol!
